At Breathe Yoga and Pilates we offer a wide range of classes for all levels of expertise from total beginner to advanced. Yoga is suitable for all ages & physical ability and so can be practised by everyone, even those of us who are feeling unwell. If you can breathe then you can do yoga!
Yoga can be deeply relaxing and has been found to help its students reconnect with themselves. By learning relaxation techniques and practising breath work, students of yoga can use these tools in daily life to help deal with stress, depression and loss.
Yoga, meaning the union of body, breath and mind has been practised as a way of life for centuries. It’s philosophy is in cultivating physical, mental and emotional health & wellbeing, and is why more than 15 million people across the world are still practising this ancient tradition.
A daily practice of yoga can restore the natural balance and harmony bringing positive good health to all parts of life – physical, mental & spiritual. It can help to regain or maintain strength and suppleness of the muscles and joints. It can also improve the functions of all the body’s systems.
A typical yoga practice includes a combination of the following elements: Classical Asana posture practice (modified where necessary), breath work, meditation and relaxation.

Beginner’s Yoga
Suitable for absolute beginners or for those students who are more comfortable with a slower paced, more focused class. Also suitable for advanced practitioners who wish to deepen their experience and knowledge of postures (Mondays 8pm).

6 week Slow, Mindful Yoga (6-week course)
Slow, mindful yoga has a therapeutic rather than an ‘athletic’ intent. It is a slow-paced class. Over the 6 weeks, you will learn simple breathing practices and poses that are suitable for all abilities.
Slow, mindful yoga can help you:
• Improve mobility
• Manage stress
• Reduce Pain
• Improve Mental Health
• Sleep better
Slow, mindful yoga can be adapted to your specific needs. It is accessible and can help
you optimize your health without the risk of injury. It is suitable for everyone and every body.
You can join the course either in studio or live online (recording is available if you miss a class).

Strength Work (includes both yoga and pilates)
It is never too soon to start looking after your bones. We actually start to lose bone density from our 30’s onwards. According to the Irish Osteoporosis Society 1 in 2 women and 1 in 5 men are affected by osteoporosis from midlife onwards. Weight baring exercise is proven to help improve bone density, which we can incorporate in our daily routine. This class includes resistance work, weight baring practice and isometric stretching to help strengthen both our muscles and our bones. It is suitable for beginners and improvers no matter how much or little Pilates or yoga experience you might have. The class runs Thursdays at 10am. You can purchase our 3 class taster pack for €39 or use an existing class pack.

Yoga Flow
In this energetic class hatha yoga postures are sequenced together to allow fluid movement from one pose to the next using breath awareness. All asanas are explored during the class including hip and shoulder opening, spinal movement, core strengthening & balancing postures. Modifications are offered for beginners and those suffering from injury. More advanced postures are also explored as students gain more experience and wish to bring challenge to their practice. Classes take place Wednesday evenings 8.30pm and Saturday mornings 10.30am.

Hatha Yoga
This class focuses on exploring postures that build strength, stretch and tone the body, while also learning techniques to enable you to relax, restore and revive. Features of this class include: asana posture movement (including modifications where necessary); breathing practices which can expand and tone the respiratory system; meditation which encourages mindfulness and focus; relaxation to calm the mind and restore the body. If you suffer from stress in your daily life, fatigue, poor posture or back pain this class is for you.

Yin Yoga
Yin yoga consists of a series of long-held, passive floor poses that mainly work the lower part of the body – the hips, pelvis, inner thighs, lower spine. These areas are especially rich in connective tissues. The poses are held for up to five minutes, sometimes longer. Practice of Yin yoga can Reduce stress and anxiety, Improve flexibility, Release fascia and improves joint mobility resulting in balance and calmness for both mind and body.

If you don’t feel quite ready for the class environment and would prefer one to one tuition to get you started we have private classes available either online or in person in the studio. Contact us for details.
